DraftKings Plays and Fades: Week 5 Fantasy Football
QB
PLAY: Joe Burrow ($6000)
Joe Burrow is looking to continue his 3 game streak of 300+ yards passing. In week 5 he heads to Baltimore. DFS players may see this as a situation to avoid, but in reality, the Ravens defense hasn’t been great. I’m expecting Burrow to continue his 300+ yard passing streak and have multiple touchdowns. He will most likely be a low-owned QB with many contrarian stacking options.
FADE: Baker Mayfield ($5700)
The Cleveland Browns are turning out to be a good football team under this new coaching regime. Yup, hard to say, but I said “good”. That being said, they played against the Dallas “Swiss Cheese” Cowboys in Week 4 and have to go up against an Indianapolis Colts defense that could be the best in the league. I’m expecting a regression here from the offense and looking to fade Baker.
RB
PLAY: D’Ernest Johnson ($4700)
This is obviously counter-intuitive to the notes on Baker Mayfield, but I find D’Ernest Johnson super interesting. People are going to have their eyes on Kareem Hunt and the Colts DEF. I’m personally not convinced that Hunt is going to be a 90%+ snap guy. There is a decent chance Hunt’s role stays relatively the same and Johnson gets plugged in for Chubb. He looked electric Week 4. This price is too cheap.
FADE: Mark Ingram II ($5400)
This is a lazy and easy fade. I admit it. It’s hard not to continue fading Mark Ingram II with this usage. Are the Ravens saving him for the playoffs? The only other explanation I can think of is that John Harbaugh hates fantasy football.
WR
PLAY: DJ Chark Jr. ($6500)
To be honest, going into Week 4 I didn’t know how the Jags were going to use Chark. But now it’s clear he’s still their number 1 WR and he is healthy. He’s going up against a deflated Houston Texans team in Week 5 that is going through a coaching change. I like all the Jags this week and I love DJ Chark Jr. at this price.
FADE: Deebo Samuel ($5300)
I’m not sure the 49ers are going to let Deebo Samuel loose just yet. It’s possible it happens Week 5, but I’m in a wait and see mode before I risk throwing him in there. I like Brandon Aiyuk $100 cheaper at $5200 if you want exposure to a 49ers receiver.
TE
PLAY: Jonnu Smith ($4900)
Jonnu Smith is in a great spot Week 5 going up against the Buffalo Bills. They rank 27th in the league against the TE position. Assuming they can avoid COVID-19 setbacks and play, I like Jonnu Smith to continue chalking up fantasy points.
FADE: Mo Alie-Cox ($4200)
If you only look at the fantasy points Mo Alie-Cox has been putting up, he appears to be a TE 1. But if you look under the hood it’s easy to see the warning signs. He’s been super-efficient averaging just over 3 targets per game. He’s coming off of a 1 catch game against the Bears. People will play him this week because he’s going up against the Cleveland Browns who rank 32nd (dead last) against the TE position.
